| Source: National Archives and Records Administration Enterprise CV-6 is hit by the third bomb in two minutes, during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, 24 August 1942. Near the aft end of the deck, smoke can be seen from the first bomb hit, which obliterated a starboard 5" gun mount and its crew. |
